Every so often, we need a weekend to ourselves, especially if we’ve had a busy few days or the weather is rather miserable. With nowhere to be, no schedules to adhere to, and lots of fun to be had, it’s no surprise that 66% of Brits would much prefer a night in.
If you’re stuck on ideas of what to do, we’re here to help you out. Here are four of our favourite ways to spend a weekend at home for some much-needed rest and relaxation.
Have a movie marathon
Love the cinema but don’t want to trek all the way to a venue? Why not host your very own movie night at home instead? Simply grab your cosiest of blankets, heat up some popcorn, and create an itinerary of all the films you want to watch.
Don’t have the DVDs to hand? Don’t worry, most streaming services will likely have your favourite titles available to watch online or you could rent them for the night. Then, all you need to do is put your feet up on the sofa and press play.
Play some games
Dust off those old board games in your storage cupboard and rediscover your love for games such as Scrabble, Chess, and Ludo. However, if you don’t have the equipment needed or are lacking another player, you may consider playing online instead.
Simply download your favourite games on your phone, tablet, or computer, including the likes of Bingo, Solitaire, and Poker. You can play against AI opponents or other people from across the country – all you need is an internet connection!
Cook something new
Use this time to refine your culinary skills, experimenting with new recipes or revisiting some old favourites. Whether you choose to make your own homemade pizza or bake enough brownies to share with friends and family, cooking can bring out your creative side and leave you with something delicious to enjoy over the rest of your weekend.
Tour a virtual museum
There’s nothing better than learning more about history or discovering new art pieces. If you’re unable to visit a museum in person, this doesn’t mean you need to miss out, however. Many museums now offer virtual experiences, allowing you to tour the venue from your computer.
Some of the top virtual reality tours include those offered by The National Gallery, The British Museum, and the Science Museum. If you ever do decide to visit in person, then at least you already know exactly where to go.
